A cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter evening is pure comfort, and going dairy-free doesn’t mean missing out on the richness. This creamy, indulgent dairy-free hot chocolate is made with plant-based milk and natural sweeteners, giving you warmth and flavour in every sip. It’s perfect for anyone who’s lactose-intolerant or simply prefers a lighter, vegan-friendly version.
2 cups almond milk (or oat milk/coconut milk for extra creaminess) 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 2 tablespoons maple syrup or jaggery powder 1 teaspoon dark chocolate (optional, finely chopped) ½ teaspoon vanilla extract A pinch of cinnamon (optional, for extra warmth) A pinch of sea salt
Pour the almond milk into a saucepan and warm it over medium heat (do not boil).
Add cocoa powder, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt while whisking to remove any lumps.
Stir continuously for 3–4 minutes until the mixture becomes smooth and slightly thick.
Add vanilla extract and dark chocolate, stirring until the chocolate melts completely.
Sprinkle a little cinnamon for flavor and pour into a mug and enjoy your cozy, dairy-free winter treat!
