Learning to spell is an important part of building vocabulary and writing skills. For kids, spelling should be fun, not study. When exercises are fun and engaging, kids learn and remember words better. Here are simple and fun spelling exercises.
Mix up the letters of simple words (like school, milk, lunch) and ask kids to unscramble them.
Use small food items like murmura or roti pieces to form letters and spell words on a plate.
Show a picture of a mango, banana or a glass of chaas and ask your child to write the word on a card.
Write one letter in each square and ask your child to hop across while spelling out words like water, book, mat.
Choose one new word every day—write its meaning and use it in a sentence, like “Today’s word is curd. I ate curd with rice.”
Cut chart paper into pieces, write one letter of a word on each, mix them up and ask your child to unscramble them.
