Kids spend more time on screens, study for long hours, or sleep in an awkward position, and they often get stiff necks. It’s not serious, but it can be uncomfortable and limit their movement. Gentle neck exercises at home can help loosen tight muscles and give a quick relief. Here are 6 simple neck exercises kids can do for quick comfort and flexibility.
Ask your child to turn their head to look over each shoulder slowly—do this 5 times on each side.
Have them gently look up at the ceiling, then down to the chest, hold for 5 seconds.
Guide your child to move their chin from one shoulder to another in a slow half-circle to relax tight muscles.
Tell them to lift their shoulders toward their ears, hold for 3 seconds, and release—repeat 10 times to ease tension.
Let them tilt their heads sideways so one ear moves toward the shoulder—hold for 10 seconds on each side.
Ask them to stand against a wall with the back of their head touching it—this corrects posture and relieves neck pressure.
