Frequently Asked Questions

Bone & Muscle Health

Back to Faqs

Strong bones and muscles support growth, movement, posture, and daily activities. They also reduce the risk of injuries and help children to stay active in their childhood years and later in life.

Nutrients like calcium, vitamin D, protein, phosphorus, magnesium, and vitamin K all are very important to maintain a child's bone health. They help build strong bones, support healthy growth, and improve overall bone strength.

Milk, curd, paneer, ragi, sesame seeds, soy products, green leafy vegetables, almonds, and calcium-rich fortified foods are the best foods for bones for children. Including these foods regularly helps support strong bones and healthy growth.

Vitamin D helps the body to absorb calcium so that children have strong bones. They can get enough vitamin D through safe sunlight exposure, fortified foods, eggs, oily fish, and supplements if a doctor recommends them.

The intake of calcium depends on age. Most children need about 700–1,300 mg daily. A doctor or dietitian can help parents understand the right amount based on the child's age and needs.

Protein helps in building and repairing muscles, supports healthy growth, and keeps children strong and active as they grow. It is also important for recovery after physical activity and overall body development.

When a child has less physical activity, it slows their bone strengthening. When children do weight training on a daily basis, their bones become denser and stronger, right from childhood.

Eggs, milk, yogurt, paneer, lentils, beans, soy, chicken, fish, nuts, and seeds are the best protein-rich foods that build strong muscles in children. Eating a variety of these foods supports muscle growth and healthy development.

Frequent fractures, bone pain, poor growth, muscle weakness, or difficulty with physical activities are some signs of weak bones or poor bone health. If these symptoms continue, parents should consult a doctor.

A growing child should have balanced meals, daily exercise, enough sunlight, good sleep, and limited sugary drinks and processed foods. These habits will build strong bones and muscles and help them in their growing years.
